All areas of Rivers Al and Shannon affected by oil spill now treated according to Council

All areas of the Rivers Al and Shannon affected by an oil spill last weekend have now been treated according to Westmeath County Council.

A cleanup effort of the area, being co-ordinated by Inland fisheries and the Council, with assistance from Waterways Ireland, the National Parks & Wildlife Services, and Roscommon County Council, as well as other voluntary services, is continuing.

The situation is still being monitored and investigations as to where the oil spill came from are still ongoing.
