Athlone-based deputy Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran has said he wishes his brother the best of luck in the local elections.
The OPW Minister’s brother, Tony, has declared that he will be running for the Renua party in the Athlone Municipal District in next month’s local elections.
It will mean that Mr Moran will be running in competition with his brother’s son, Jamie, who is part of a three-candidate Independent ticket announced last week.
Former Sinn Féin councillor Paul Hogan and Independent candidate Michael O’Brien are the other two on the ticket and Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran says competition is always a healthy thing.
The TD admitted he wasn’t aware his brother intended to run in the local elections, and had only heard after it was announced.
