“Women in Politics and Public Life” exhibition opened by Mary McAleese in Roscommon today

Former President Mary McAleese will open a major exhibition in Roscommon later today.

The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht’s Pop Up Women’s Museum – which celebrates 100 Years of ‘Women in Politics and Public Life’ – will be resident at Aras an Chondate in Roscommon town for its Connaught showing.

The exhibition was curated by historian Sinéad McCoole shows the stories of over 206 elected representatives and other Irish women pioneers very familiar and less well-known women, who have contributed significantly to Irish political life and public service since 1918.

The exhibition in Roscommon runs until the end of September.
