Roscommon-Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice claims latest water usage figures show the anti-water charges campaign benefited the richest communities in the country.
CSO figures reveal that homes in three areas of Dublin use more water than anywhere else in the country with a high of 488 litres per day in Dublin 6.
This compares to households in this region where daily usage is just 367 litres in Leitrim, 416 in Roscommon and 424 in Longford.
The figures come just two weeks after water charges were abolished by the Government.
Deputy Fitzmaurice says the statistics show homeowners living in the most expensive suburbs in the capital and other urban centres use far more water than people in other areas.
