Warning to farmers over Roscommon fires

The IFA is warning farmers to be vigilant after a number of bog fires in Roscommon in recent days.

In the sudden warm weather, there were blazes at Frenchpark, Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen over the weekend, with the fire services battling to control them.

There were also far more serious fires in Connemara, with landowners being urged to stop burning scrub as blazes got out of control.

John Hanley, the chairman of Roscommon IFA, has this advice following the fires in Roscommon over the weekend.
