Gardaí in Castlerea are investigating two burglaries at sports grounds in the area, where more than €2,000’s worth of items were stolen.
The most significant break-in occurred at the O’Rourke GAA grounds between last Wednesday evening at 4.30 and 8 o’clock the following morning.
A generator valued at €800 and two cement-mixers, worth €700 and €500 respectively, were taken from a shed, along with a small can of petrol.
Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, Castlerea Celtic Football’s grounds were broken into, with a padlock broken and a shed entered.
However, only a small canister of petrol was taken.
