TD Denis Naughten says he voted with the government last night because people don’t want a general election

Roscommon Galway Independent TD Denis Naughten says he voted with the government last night because people he spoke to said they did not want a general election.

He was one of three TDS which saved the government from losing a no confidence motion, after the Taoiseach turned a confidence move against Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy to an entire government vote.

Michael Lowry and Noel Grealish also supported the government.

The vote was tabled by the Social Democrats and Roscommon Galway Independent TD says his supporters saw it as nothing more than a political stunt.
