Taughmaconnell Garda station re-opens on part-time basis

Gardai have confirmed new opening hours for a Roscommon station once described as the quietest in all of Ireland.

Taughmaconnell Garda station, located near the border with Galway, lost its permanent Garda in 2016 and there were fears that it may be sold off by the OPW.

In 2014, it was claimed that just four crimes were reported in the community – however, there has been an ongoing campaign by locals to re-establish a Garda presence in the area which is served now by members of the force from Clonark.
