A new analysis of Local Electoral Areas shows that the wider south Roscommon area has experienced a significant growth in its Covid numbers in the last 14 days.

The rate in the Athone LEA has increased significantly, increasing from 170 to 230 per 100,000 after 46 cases in the region.

The rate in Boyle LEA has decreased in the last week to 201 with 44 cases in the north Roscommon area recorded.

Roscommon's LEA rate has almost doubled from 79.2 to 149.6 after 34 cases of the virus.

In Leitrim , the rate in the Carrick-on-Shannon LEA, which has a population of just over 11,000, has grown from 52.8 to 272.9 per 100,000 between the 5th and 12th of October with 31 cases in the area.

Ballinamore's case rate is below five and the rate is at zero.

Manorhamilton's growth has moved from a very low level to 92.4 in the same time period.

In Longford, growth has been recorded in two of the three Local Electoral Areas.

The north of the county now has a rate of 449.7 as of the 12th of October after 44 cases, while Longford's is 105.9 which is a slight decrease after 17 cases and the south Longford area of Ballymahon has a rate of 98.9 - up from 35.3 at the 5th of October after 14 new cases.
