Son of Jadotville veteran claims medal ‘too late’ for Irish heroes

The son of an Irish Army veteran who was involved in the Siege of Jadotville over fifty years claims the official recognition for the 35th battalion has come too late.

It was confirmed yesterday that medals are to be presented to all the survivors of the infamous incident in Irish military history

The incident was long ignored by the Irish Government and the families of the veterans have claimed that the medals will not undo the years of hurt they suffered following the incident in the Congo in 1961.
