Sliabh Ban residents want independent turbine noise monitoring

There are calls for Coillte to fund independent noise monitoring of wind turbines for residents on living on Sliabh Bán.

28 residents met representatives of the state agency last night; 19 families highlighted that they have been woken by the noise from nearby wind turbines in their homes.

Coillte representatives said that they were not aware of the extent of the problem, but they agreed to meet individually with all families impacted by wind turbine noise.

The group is asking that Coillte fund individuals when they source their own individual noise monitoring and that it provides any technical data which would assist acoustic experts.

Mike De Jong is spokesperson for Sliabh Bán Community Group.
