SIPTU to ask for detailed reasons for closure of Cuisle centre at meeting with IWA today

SIPTU official Eddie Mullins says he’ll be looking for detailed reasons for the proposed closure of the Cuisle Centre in Donamon in Roscommon when he meets with representatives of the Irish Wheelchair Association today.

The union official says staff and service users are still in a state of shock after being told just a week ago that the centre is to be closed at the end of this month.

Eddie Mullins says the way staff and the people who use the centre have been treated is a disgrace, and there appears to have been no real thought of the impact this decision is going to have on them.

He says he’ll be looking for more clarity on the reason for the closure at the meeting today and he’ll also be calling for the decision to be reversed.
