Fine Gael local area representative Andrew Reynolds has failed to secure a nomination to contest May’s local elections in the Boyle Municipal District.
More than 100 people attended the party’s selection convention in the Percy French Hotel in Strokestown last night.
Three candidates went before delegates – Councillor Liam Callaghan, former Boyle town councillor Keith Suffin and Mr Reynolds – but Fine Gael decided only two would be selected on the night.
Councillor Callaghan and Mr Suffin were chosen after securing 55 and 32 number one votes respectively, with Mr Reynolds missing out, securing only 21.
But the Rooskey man expects to be added to the ticket.
