Roscommon native Sean Mulryan, Leitrim Council Chief Executive Frank Curran and Galway Council Chief Executive Kevin Kelly have all been appointed to the board of Ireland West Airport Knock.
Sean Mulryan is one of the country’s leading property developers and the founder, chairman and CEO of the Ballymore Group, a Dublin based international property development company.
A statement from Ireland West says the addition of Mr Mulryan and the two local authority chiefs further strengthens the regional partnership at the airport.
Seven councils including Roscommon and Leitrim recently invested in the airport and the facility is on track for its busiest year ever with passenger numbers set to reach almost 750,000 for the first time in the airports history.
The airport has also been approved for designation as a Strategic Development Zone this week.
The designation will allow for the fast tracking of planning for developments at the airport and projects on the adjoining lands which are related to air services.
Minister Denis Naughtnen says the results will be a boost to employment prospects locally, including the west Roscommon area.
