Shannonside MEP seeks calls on government to address ‘misgivings’ of WDC Chair

A Shannonside MEP has called on the government to intervene after the head of Ballagahdereen based Western Development Commission asked not to remain on in his position.

Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy claims that Paddy McGuinness has asked the Minister of State for Regional Economic Development, Michael Ring not to re-appoint him to the role as he is disappointed with the government ignoring the body.

MEP Carthy claims that the government needs to immediately address the misgivings of the head of the commission, and seek clarity on why the body has been without a board since the middle of February this year and several allegations of poor practice in relation to how the WDC was treated.
