Roscommon Solstice choir celebrate All-Ireland community award

The Roscommon Solstice Choir has won a silver medal in the All-Ireland Community and Council Awards.

The 120-member group received the prize in Croke Park on Saturday night, with the ceremony presided over by RTE’s Marty Morrissey.

The competition is an initiative by IPB Insurance and Local Government Management Agency.

The Roscommon Solstice Choir, competing for its county, was one of eight groups shortlisted for the award.

It finished second, behind Cork’s Centenary Commemorations, and joint director Andrew Reynolds was thrilled with the prize.
