Roscommon Senator Terry Leyden is accusing the government of blocking efforts to have a central database for all wills made in the country.
The Fianna Fail Senator has been working on the Registration of Wills Bill 2016 and it recently passed all stages in the Seanad.
The Bill aims at providing a clear statutory basis for the registration of wills, and would allow a person making a will, or the solicitor, to register the location of a will with a central authority.
The Bill was supported in the Seanad in recent by Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein but was opposed by Fine Gael.
Senator Leyden says the Bill is clearly needed to make sure that peoples wishes are properly followed and he’ll continue to work to try to have the Bill enacted ……
