Judging is taking place in Roscommon today for the Pride of Place competition.
The competition began 17 years ago to celebrate community involvement, volunteerism and community action.
As part of the judging process the judges will visit three areas in Roscommon today where they’ll meet with community representatives who will highlight their achievements and outline why they feel their area should get a Pride of Place award.
The judges will also be brought on a short tour of the area.
The judging process began at the Resource Centre in Lisacul this morning at ten o’ clock and this afternoon the judges move on to Boyle to begin the same examination there at three o’ clock.
They will also visit Athleague Community Centre tomorrow morning to hear about community efforts there.
Members of the public are invited to go along to the judging to show their support.
