Roscommon people urged not to engage with fake charity clothes collectors

A Roscommon councillor is urging people not to be taken in by fake charity clothes collectors who are operating in the area in recent days.

Independent councillor Kathleen Shanagher says fliers have been dropped in people’s doors asking them to leave out bags of unwanted clothes and items.

The Roscommon councillor says she called a number on the flier but it was not in service and is not linked to any registered charity.


She says the problem is that not only are these collectors not operating for any charity, but they also will take only the items of any value from the bags and will dump the rest of the contents on roadsides and other areas.
