Roscommon IFA chair warns on quad bike dangers

Parents are being warned to be very careful in allowing young or inexperienced people to ride quad bikes without supervision.

There were 16 people killed on Irish farms from January to November last year, and many more injured, Longford had no fatalities, there was one farm related death in Leitrim and three in Roscommon.

Shannonside IFA leaders say as the busy summer season begins there’s greater potential for danger on farms, and with young people now out of school, people need to be particularly careful of the use of quad bikes on farms and rural roads.

Chairman of Roscommon IFA, Jim O’ Connor says young people need not think there’s any bravado in riding a quad irresponsibly.
