Gardai in Roscommon are asking the public to be conscious of guest numbers at celebrations and social events surrounding confirmation and communions in the coming

Gardai in Roscommon are asking the public to be conscious of guest numbers at celebrations and social events surrounding confirmation and communions in the coming days.

Concern has been expressed that increased numbers of people may gather in homes or at social functions this weekend despite health advice not to do so.

Senior gardai in Roscommon are reminding the public that Covid checkpoints will continue to be carried out across the wider Shannonside region this weekend as Dublin gets set to be hit with a significant lockdown plan.

Gardai are asking the public to be conscious of visitors to their homes for celebrations or events this weekend and especially where guests may be originating from.

The public is also being reminded to maintain social distancing and to be aware of the best practice for hand hygiene as well as complying with other HSE advice.

Local Gardai have warned they will be maintaining a public presence but enforcement measures will only be used as a last resort.
