Roscommon County Councillors will meet with local supermarkets and butchers to discuss beef crisis

A delegation of Roscommon County Councillors will meet with local supermarkets and butchers this weekend to discuss the ongoing beef crisis.

The Alliance group, which comprises of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and two Independent local authority members is to meet to discuss concerns over the 30-month beef rule.

Farmer’s groups have appealed to large retailers to extend the period to 36 months, which they feel would be a major factor in helping ease the pressure on the industry.
