Roscommon County Council paid €1.98 million for goods and service in the last three months, including over half a million euro to one road works company.

Figures released by the local authority show Ballinrobe company John Madden and sons was paid just under €650,000 in quarter three of 2017

In total in the last three months, Roscommon County Council paid out over 1.98 million euro, across 24 contracts

The figures are contained in the purchase orders greater than €20,000 released by the County Council this week.

The largest single payment was secured by John Madden and sons, who were paid €648,793 for road works.

Roadstone limited secured the next highest payment of payment of over €247,000 (247,602) from the Council, while Callington Limited, which is based in Tullamore and is also a roadworks company, was paid the next highest amount at over €231k (€231,819).

Over 88,000 euro was spent on the purchase of lorries from Westward Scania, while a Ford jeep cost over €30,000

€20,00 was spent on catering equipment from Gilmartin’s Bar and catering supplies, while printing costs of over €20,000 were contracted to xerox Ireland.
