Roscommon County Council has been cited on the latest list of tax defaulters for nearly €460,000.
The local authority under-declared VAT of almost €343,000 in 2017 which was identified in an audit carried out by the Revenue Commissioners.
But with penalties of more than €100,000 and interest of just over €13,000 the final amount which had to be settled rose to €457,000.
The error was only revealed to councillors a couple of months ago even though the executive was aware of the issue since January last.
According to Revenue one other individual in County Roscommon appears in the list of defaulters for July to September.
John Doherty, a company director, with an address at Carrick, Ballinlough owed just over €115,000 which remained unpaid at the end of September
