The Roscommon council Chief Executive Eugene Cummins says he hopes the regeneration of our towns and villages will lead to a reduction in people who want to build one off houses.

The council executive was speaking in Boyle this week at the official launch of a major regeneration project which will see the old Royal Hotel premises in the town turned into a public amenity and enterprise centre.

The Roscommon Chief Executive says one off housing is not a sustainable way of living and we need to be able to maximise service like water and sewage in a central way.

He says he hopes projects like the one in Boyle and other towns will encourage more people to consider moving back into urban areas.
