Roscommon artist says lack of protection for actors’ pay and conditions is ‘unacceptable’

Roscommon artist and theatre director Garry Hynes has told a Dail committee that a lack of protection for actors’ pay and conditions is ‘unacceptable’.

The Ballaghderreen woman addressed the Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht Committee to explore the importance of art and artists in Irish life on this week.

The artistic director of the Druid Theatre explained that the only difference between artists and the people who enjoy art or theatre of cinema is who pays them at the end of each week.
