Reports of dumped couches, mattresses and fridges made to Roscommon County Council in March

Roscommon County Council has received complaints of couches, mattresses and a fridge dumped in Strokestown.

Residents also informed the local authority of a lorry load of building material discarded in Castlerea.

Details released under the Freedom of Information Act reveal the council got 82 environmental complaints in March – 59 relating to litter, 19 to waste, three to water and one to air.

On March 4, there was a report of couches and mattresses dumped in Strokestown, while a fortnight later, there was another complaint of bags, couches and a fridge discarded in the town.

There were similar complaints relating to Castlerea, where white goods were allegedly dumped in a bog, and gathering and burning of waste nearby.

A lorry load of building material was also allegedly dumped in the west Roscommon town.
