First-year enrollment at the new Coláiste Chiaráin in Athlone has increased and the new school is at capacity in several classes.
That’s according to the Principal of the newly amalgamated secondary school Brendan Waldron.
The school is based on the campus of the former St Joseph’s College in Summerhill, but it also now includes the boys from the former St Aloysius college in Athlone.
The amalgamation was first announced two years ago and temporary classrooms have been built on the Summerhill site until a new purpose built school building is approved.
