Peter Smyth tells Committee he does not believe Naughten and McCourt discussed NBP

The auditor who concluded that meetings between former Communications Minister Denis Naughten and businessman David McCourt didn’t taint the National Broadband Plan has again re-stated his view.

Peter Smyth was asked by the Taoiseach to investigate any implications for the process, after it emerged Deputy Naughten held meetings with Mr McCourt, who is leading the only consortium left bidding for the contract, that were not minuted.

Appearing before the Oireachtas Communications Committee this afternoon, Mr. Smyth says he believes the National Broadband Plan was not discussed between the two men:
