The Percy French Festival kicks off in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon today.
The event, which is in its eleventh year, will take place in Castlecoote House from the tenth to the twelfth of July and aims to provide a forum for issues surrounding rural Ireland.
Speakers, including journalist Mary Kenny and various historians and academics, will be discussing the theme of “Taking French Leave” through the lens of Ireland’s political and cultural history.
Performers in attendance will include international and local acts such as The Castlecoote Ramblers and the New York based Viva Voice Choir.
