O’Rourke mulling over Roscommon Dáil bid

Athlone Mayor Aengus O’Rourke says he has been encouraged to consider contesting the Roscommon-Galway Fianna Fáil convention.

The Westmeath councillor lives in south Roscommon and says it’s natural that people might consider him as a possible candidate for the constituency.

He hasn’t gone before conventions in Westmeath for the last election or the next.

The Fianna Fáil councillor’s family has a political history in Roscommon and his cousin Conor Lenihan was asked to consider running in Roscommon for the 2015 election.

Councillor O’Rourke says he hasn’t given any major thought to the idea, but is not shutting any doors either.
