Roscommon County Council has opted not to change its property tax next year.
Each year local authorities can increase or decrease its rate by as much as 15 per cent.
But last year Roscommon council voted to retain its current rate and, at a meeting this afternoon, councillors again decided not to alter it.
Martin Lydon, the council’s head of finance, had given a presentation that indicated the council couldn’t afford a decrease.
Independent councillor Valerie Byrne agrees.
