A new system for people who are visually impaired will be rolled out next week ahead of the local and European elections, as well as the divorce referendum.
A new freephone system is being rolled out by Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon County Councils for vision impaired voters in respect of the Local Elections.
When someone dials the number voters can hear the details of the candidates in each individual Electoral Area, who are contesting the Local Elections.
This freephone facility operates in conjunction with a ballot paper template, which can be placed on top of the ballot paper.
The number in Roscommon is available for voters to call at 1800 20 07 27 and in Leitrim the number is 1800 702 651.
Kieran Brett, of Leitrim County Council, says it should make a big difference for voters.
