Maura Hopkins expresses concern over funding to support Syrian asylum seekers

Roscommon Senator Maura Hopkins says she has ongoing concerns about the level of funding being given to support Syrian refugees in Ballaghaderreen.

The Fine Gael Senator is making the comment in the wake of an announcement of funding to five local projects in west Roscommon under the Communities Integration Fund.

The funding of up to €5,000 is being made available to organisation like the local GAA club, the golf club, and Roscommon Women’s Network, for activities promoting integration.

Senator Hopkins says this funding is very welcome but she is concerned about more basic services for the people who have arrived at the EROC centre at the Abbeyfield hotel:
