Local Men’s Sheds volunteers welcome funding boost

Almost twenty five thousand euro has been allocated for women and men’s sheds in the Shannonside region.

A total of five hundred thousand euro has been announced for 372 men’s and women’s sheds to purchase equipment and carry out works.

Thirty three women’s shed groups have also received funding for the first time after their recent emergence.

The most money allocated in the region was twenty five hundred euro to Boyle Men’s Shed, with Ballyleague Men’s Shed getting nineteen hundred

The news was announced today by Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring.

Men’s Sheds was established less than ten years ago to tackle the problem of social isolation and has grown to include sheds in every county in Ireland.
