A review of the need for speed ramps on the Old Tuam Road in Monksland is being sought by Cllr. John Naughten.

Cllr. Naughten says he'll be raising the issue at the next Athlone Municipal District meeting of Roscommon County Council where he'll ask for another look to be taken at the route.

The Fine Gael Councillor says the council did install flashing speed signs at this location, which have helped the situation to some degree.

He says though that residents still have concerns in relation to road safety in the area and believe that speed ramps are the best solution to slow traffic down in the area.
