A Roscommon man who had nearly €60,000 of tools stolen from his van has revealed how he found an illicit market where equipment like his is sold.
Christy Swanick says he attended the market where suspect goods are sold as it took place in the early hours of Sunday morning and saw similar tools, but not his own.
Christy, who is self-employed and works in the refrigeration business, had his specialised equipment robbed from his van as he was staying in a west Dublin hotel last week.
Speaking on Lets Talk this afternoon he said it had taken him a lifetime to build up what he described as “an arsenal of tools” which are valued are nearly €60,000.
He said when he attended the overnight market, outside of this region, he saw one piece of equipment similar to one of his own which retails for nearly €1,600 but was offered to him for €20.
He told Anne Norris about the theft and his subsequent attendance at the market.
