Leitrim man oversees development of major air dome near Ballyhaunis

The Leitrim head of Connacht GAA says the biggest sports air dome of its kind in the world should be open by the end of this year.

And Cloone man Gerry McGovern says it’s expected that the €3m facility will be available for other uses including concerts.

The air dome at Bekan just outside Ballyhaunis will measure 150 metres high and 100 metres in width and will accommodate a full size pitch and capacity for 600 spectators.

Gerry who is Connacht GAA president, explained on the Joe Finnegan show how the all-weather dome which is fully funded would work.
