Keadue Social Services can return to three days

Keadue Social Services hopes to be able to be open on a three day week basis again following news of funding for a bus for the service.

The organisation formerly known as St Asicus Social Services closed at the end of 2015 after Pobal withdrew annual grant aid of over €100, 000.

A new management structure was put in place to ensure the service kept going but they have not had their own transport service to bring meals out, or people to the centre.

Local Fianna Fail councillor Rachel Doherty says they have now been told they are being given €54,373 euro under the Dormant Accounts grant scheme, and she says this should allow the service to go back to three days in the centre.
