Keadue charity donates €68,000 to local groups

Four local organisations have benefitted from €68,000 in funding as a result of the winding down a north Roscommon charity.

St Asicus Social Services closed last year after being in operation for about 50 years and was replaced by Keadue Social Services.

Last night St Asicus held a function in the Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon to donate its remaining funds to beneficiaries.

Four groups received €17,000 each – Drumkeeran Care of the Elderly, Ballaghaderreen Social Services, Elphin Social Services and the Community of Lough Arrow Social Projects in east Sligo.

It has also donated its equipment to Roscommon Leader.

Gerry McMunn, a financial planner for St Asicus, says the charity provided a great service over many years.
