Legal proceedings have been lodged by KBC bank against members of a Roscommon family at the centre of an eviction last December.
According to the Irish Times, the bank has lodged proceedings against Michael Anthony McGann, as well as David and Geraldine McGann and “persons unknown occupying premises at Falsk Strokestown Co Roscommon”.
The family and their home was at the centre of national attention last December when they were evicted from their house by a security firm believed to be working on behalf of agents of the bank.
A number of days later, the house was the scene of a violent incident which resulted in several vehicles being burned out and a number of alleged assaults after a group of individual attacked a security team who had been in place since the eviction.
Members of the McGann family, who condemned the violence and asked the public to refrain from illegal activity, subsequently moved back into the house.
A garda investigation into the December incidents is ongoing with two people currently before the courts.
Earlier this year David McGann lodged a separate action against KBC Bank and a number of other parties arising out of last December’s eviction.
