Irish Water to replace two large sections of mains in Castlerea

Irish Water is finalising preparations for the replacement of two large sections of mains in Castlerea

In partnership with Roscommon County Council, the first programme of works will involve replacing 700 metres of aging cast iron water mains at Arm.

Once complete, a further 530 meters of water main will be replaced on Church Road.

The works in Arm are due to start in late May, and are expected to be completed in July.

The project on Church Road will start immediately afterwards and take approximately eight weeks.

A single lane traffic system will be in place in each location for the duration of the works

Dave Murphy, the Regional Lead with Irish Water’s Leak Reduction programme says replacing the old pipes it will mean less disruption and loss of pressure for consumers.
