Irish Water hopes new €10million investment will end water disruption

Irish Water has said the announcement of today’s €10 million euro investment for Ballinlough and Williamstown water supplies should mean an end to the difficulties faced by local householders.

Both supplies have experienced disruptions and problems over recent years and it’s hoped the construction of the new pipe line from Lough Mask and a new water reservoir at Ballinlough will mean trouble free water supply in the future for the 5,000 consumers involved.

Anthony Skeffington who’s a Head Engineer with Irish Water for the Roscommon/Mayo area says they are very aware of the disruption to people’s lives caused by ongoing issues on these smaller schemes.

Speaking on Let’s Talk today, he says the project involving Mayo, Galway and Roscommon is part of their aim to eliminate the smaller schemes over time, and bring water supply under the control of much larger schemes which will be far more reliable.
