HSE urged to act quickly to dispel fears of Rosalie staff

A local trade union official has urged the HSE to act quickly in relation to the Rosalie unit to dispel workers’ fears.

Padraig Mulligan of the Forsa Trade Union says it’s now time for the uncertainty that both residents and staff have been facing to be put to rest.

He made his comments as it emerged that discussions with the family members of residents in respect of individual care plans are to begin next Monday.

Talks were held last week between unions representing around 30 staff and the HSE to address where members will be reassigned when the unit in Castlerea closes.

Once residents are relocated to alternative care placements, staff will have to be redeployed but Padraig says that with the lives of staff put on hold for so long already, the HSE needs to act quickly
