Tributes are being paid to former Roscommon footballer and manager Donie Shine who died today following a recent illness.
The Clann na nGael club man was one of the best-known GAA personalities in the county as a result of a hugely successful playing career and his media work with Shannonside FM as a commentator for over a decade.
He guided his club to successive All Ireland Club finals from 1987-1990 and then went on to manage Roscommon at intercounty level from ’94 to ’97.
The chairman of Roscommon County Board, Seamus Sweeney, says Donie Shine served his county with huge distinction.
And you can hear more on the passing of Donie Shine on this evening’s sport news around a 5.45pm here on Shannonside FM.
