Gardai appeal for witnesses to fatal Roscommon road crash

Gardai in Roscommon are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash this morning which claimed the life of a man in his 50s.

The man, believed to be from east Galway, was the driver of a car which collided with a bus a the R446 at Ballydangan at approximately 10.15.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Roscommon Hospital.

An 11-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car received minor injuries and was taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.

The driver of the bus and 3 passengers were taken to Portiuncula Hospital, with minor injuries – 12 passengers in total were on the bus.

This stretch of the R446 is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
