Garda chief says people in trouble with drugs trade can talk to them

The Chief Superintendent of the Roscommon Longford garda division is urging anyone who is being put under pressure due to the drugs trade to speak to Gardai.

Officers from the divisional drugs unit have made a number of seizures in recent weeks, including €50,000 worth of cocaine in Tulsk and cannabis and cocaine seizures in Frenchpark and Ballymahon.

And as part of ongoing investigations, gardai from Roscommon garda station assisted the divisional drugs unit with the search of a house in the Ballyleague area yesterday and seized cocaine worth an estimated €3,500 euro.

No one was arrested but a file is being prepared on the case.

Chief Superintendent Tony Healy says anyone living in fear due to drugs debt can come forward and will be given help.
