Funding of €2.5 million has been announced for flood relief works in Athleague in Roscommon.
Minister for the OPW Kevin Boxer Moran confirmed the funding for the flood-hit community at a meeting of the local authority on Monday afternoon.
Four schemes identified by the CFRAM report for Roscommon indicated that Athleague be an area of urgency in terms of flood relief works in the county.
The Minister also confirmed that a report on Lough Funshinagh and draining at the turlough is also due on his desk in the New Year.
The Longford-Westmeath TD told Shannonside FM the works in Athleague are crucial for the local community and the County Council will now take the lead on the project.
