Over four thousand homes without power in Athlone

Over four thousand homes in the Athlone are remain with power after Storm Ophelia with power likely to take up to 48 hours to be fully restored.

Other areas where outages remain are in Roscommon where 142 households in Strokestown, 103 in Ballinagare and 60 in Roscommon town remain without power.

Meanwhile, there are 111 without electricity in Ballygar in east Galway.


In Longford, there’s an outage affecting 186 in Drumlish, 120 households in Ballinamuck and 47 in Aughnacliff.

The only outage in Leitrim at present is affecting only ten households in the general Carrick-on-Shannon area.
