Fianna Fail leader defends addition of second candidate in Roscommon Galway

Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin says the addition of Councillor Orla Leyden to the Roscommon Galway ticket is a sign of the party’s increased competitiveness in this general election compared to 2016.

The addition of Councillor Leyden in such close geographical proximity to outgoing TD and candidate Eugene Murphy has led some to some disquiet and concern among party members in the area, but Micheal Martin says he believes it’s the right decision.

He says Deputy Eugene Murphy now has a proven track record in the Dail, and Councillor Orla Leyden is a valuable addition in the bid for the party to take two seats in the constituency.
